Some pregnant women find themselves in the peculiar situation of not being sure of whom the father of the child in their womb is. Some pregnant women find themselves in the peculiar situation of not being sure of whom the father of the child in their womb is. Such situations can be very tricky and tension-creating, and of course, they are depriving the child who is to be born of the fundamental right of knowing who her/his father is. However, with the help of advancement of technology, there is now a foolproof way of finding who the father of a child in the womb is. You must have already heard of DNA paternity test to establish paternity; now we also have prenatal deoxyribonucleic acid test methods. Prenatal means before birth.

With this type of testing, you can make the paternity of the growing embryo without any doubt. Women who are not sure of the paternity of their child go ahead with this solution. This is done only under a medical setup and by a medical professional though, there are no home testing kits available for this approach yet. The testing has to be done accurately in by a qualified expert. The ripe time to do such a test is between the tenth and the twenty-first week of the pregnancy.

This is how the testing is done, with the help of a special tool,

the medical expert will remove a small portion of the amniotic fluid that surrounds the embryo. This amniotic fluid is a precursor of the child's developing tissues, and it contains DNA just as the child would have it when grown. So, a sample of the amniotic fluid will reveal the DNA structure of the child.

Next comes the extracting of the alleged father's DNA. This is usually done by placing a special wad inside the man's cheek, which transfers sufficient cells onto it. Or, if the DNA heritage testing is to be done secretly, then any garment or object the man has used on which his biological fluids have passed on can be used. These are used to remove the DNA and analyze them. Then a comparison is made of the two DNA samples and based on the similarities in them, the paternity of the child can be established.

Of course, it is not as simple as that, the DNA test in the lab undergoes a series of stringent tests, comparing various factors and traits of the two DNA samples. That is the reason you must select only select companies that are accredited by the ISO, since they use standard procedures and have a better history of accurate results.
